Alexandra Markus

Alexandra Markus is a trial-focused criminal defense attorney and former Los Angeles County Public Defender with extensive experience defending clients charged with serious and high-stakes offenses, including felonies and DUI matters.

Ms. Markus has successfully litigated numerous criminal jury trials through verdict, obtaining not-guilty verdicts, hung juries, and dismissals of multiple counts. Her trial experience includes felony cases involving alleged violent strikes, a not-guilty verdict on alleged violent strike charges.

She is also an experienced negotiator and motion litigator who has successfully argued suppression motions and motions pursuant to Serna, Penal Code § 1385, and Penal Code § 1382, among other legal challenges resulting in 200+ case dismissals.

Ms. Markus has substantial experience pursuing alternatives to traditional prosecution, including mental health diversion, military diversion, and judicial diversion, when available and appropriate. In every case, she identifies the strongest legal and factual strategy and pursues it with discipline, preparation, and resolve.

Ms. Markus was admitted to the State Bar of California in December 2015. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her law degree from Southwestern Law School.
